Humanity For Homelessness SW Colorado Forum

About The Forum

Reducing stigmatism of people experiencing homelessness is our goal through our 3-day event.

Many of the unhoused are self-medicating to numb the pain and stressors of not having a safe place to sleep every night.

Trauma from adverse childhood experiences negatively affects our behavior, just as people unsheltered and unhoused are affected by society’s rejection and denigration simply for the way they are different than us.

Our unhoused neighbors want to be treated humanely. You will see the faces and hear the voices of those who suffered indignation, insults and rejection for not having stable housing.

The co-occurring mental health with drugs and alcohol abuse is similar to the trauma you and I face day-to-day.

Let’s campaign for humane treatment of people in homelessness as a way to uplift, give hope and to remove barriers that keeps solutions elusive.

Take time to watch the movie or read the book Same Kind of Different as Me.

At the Gala on Thursday March 23rd, At our Fundraising Gala In September 2023 author and film producer Ron Hall, Art Dealer, will share how his attitude and his life was changed by one man who was homeless and traumatized since his childhood.

We will all go away seeking viable solutions to reduce homelessness in our community.

A Message from Donna Mae Baukat

Hello Friends, Colleagues and Supporters:

CCO is approaching its 5th year providing client services to people of Durango who are unhoused.

To celebrate, I invite you to join us in March for our Forum Humanity For Homelessness SW Colorado at Fort Lewis College Ballroom on Tuesday the 21st, Wednesday the 22nd.

Invite your neighbor to learn about solutions available to reduce homelessness in our community. We can do it if we join hands to work together.
